PPC vs. Facebook Ads

A great online marketing campaign can make all of the difference in the success of your business. However, when it comes to launching a new campaign and your attempt to get the attention of new customers—you likely have one major decision in front of you: whether to use Pay Per Click Google AdWords or Facebook ads.

Both platforms have become increasingly popular and both platforms offer their own unique advantages. However, when it comes to determining which is better, in most situations Facebook ads are now reigning supreme. While there are always exceptions to every rule, here’s a look at why Facebook ads are going to offer you and your business more when compared to pay-per-click advertising.

Facebook Ads Are Less Expensive

The great thing about both Google AdWords and Facebook Ads is that you have a great deal of control over your overall costs. However, when it all comes down to it, Facebook ads are cheaper. The average cost-per-click for a Facebook ad is lower than the average for Google AdWords. There is also more competition for keywords with Google, due to higher usage (which typically means higher prices).

Facebook Has a Bigger Ad Inventory

Facebook offers more available ad space than Google—around 25% more, for a few simple reasons. There are more opportunities to create and share ads on Facebook and more places they appear.  Also, people typically spend more time browsing through Facebook then performing a quick Google search—meaning there is more time for ad exposure.

Facebook Ads Are More Creative

You can be more visual and more creative with Facebook ads, which has a huge advantage.  With Google ads, you are only able to use text to appeal to your target audience.  Visuals and creative advertisements are understandably more appealing to the average consumer.

Facebook Allows You To Target Consumers More Specifically

If you are looking to target a specific type of consumer so you can make your ad even more personal, Facebook is just the platform for you. Facebook ads can be targeted according to gender, age, location, interests and more.  Google AdWords on the other hand, rely solely on keyword schemes instead. While there is some benefit in advertising to what people are looking for, if you are looking to advertise directly to your target consumer instead—Facebook is much more effective.
